What is an RESP?

An RESP is a government-sponsored investment account that has grants and tax advantages when it's used to save for higher education.

Tax-deferred investing
By the time they go to school, most students can withdraw the money tax-free to use for tuition and living expenses.
Grants from the government
The federal government matches between 20% and 40% of contributions to an RESP. Some provinces match too!
